Price includes

All accommodations, all meals from breakfast on day 2 through breakfast on day 8, all picnic lunches, group transfers from and to the airport, all transportations throughout the trip, luggage transportations, services of the tour leader - guide, all taxes and VAT.
 

Not included

Air fare to and from Athens, personal travel-health insurance, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, personal expenses, entrance fees in Museums, and other sites of interest that are not included in the program.

Peloponnesus 8 days trekking

1st day: Athens-Leonidion

Arrival in Athens. Meeting point at the airport. Departure for Leonidion/Peloponnisos in a minibus. On the way we stop at the famous Canal of Korinth. Driving though Argos and Tiros we arrive at Leonidion in the evening. 4 nights at the pension and tavern of Tassos at the lovely beach of “Sampatiki”.

2nd day: Leonidion-Samponakeïka

In the morning we take the bus to the small town of Leonidion. We follow on foot the old donkey paths toward the village of Samponakeïka with wonderful views over the islands of Spezai and Hydra. Walking time 5 hours, difference in altitude about 300 meters. Picnic on the way.

3rd day: Kosmas Gorge

Walking up the old footpath to the village of Kosmas at 1.200 meters of altitude we pass through the Kosmas Gorge accompanied by pairs of vultures and golden eagles.Then we carry on through forrests of chestnut- and fir-trees and at the end we are rewarded by a meal at Marias' taverna. Walking time 5 hours, difference in altitude 800 meters.

4th day: Monemvasia

By bus to the village of Geraki. We visit 5 of the most beautiful byzantine churches (13th to 15th century) of the Peloponnese. After a good greek coffee we drive downhill, back to the coast again, so that we can visit the medieval town of Monemvasia, birthplace of the famous greek poet Giannis Ritsos.

5th day: Kastanitsa-Ano Tiros

By bus to the high plains of Kastanitsa and the old monastery of Agios Nikolaos,where we can enjoy our lunch with the monks Kyrillos and Damaskinos. After that we walk downhill to the village of Ano Tiros. Walking time 5 hours, difference in altitude 400 meters. In the evening transfer to the village of Xirokampos, accomodation in the beautiful “xenonas” of Dimitra.

6th day: Taïgetos, "Prophitis Ilias"

By foot to the summit of the Taïgetos, the famous “Prophitis Ilias” (2.404 meters). Passing pastures with wildgrowing flowers - among others orchids and lilies - we reach the snow-covered hights of the mountain chain.There we can enjoy our picnic with unique views over the aegean pelagos. Walking time 7 hours, difference in altitude 800-900 meters. The night we spend again at Dmititra’s.

7th day: Nauplion-Palamidis Castle

By bus to the beautiful venetian town of Nauplion. We walk up to the Palamidis-Castle and we visit the beautiful small archeological museum. Lunch in a taverna in the old town; In the afternoon we visit Mycenae one of the most famous archeological sites of Greece, discovered by Heinrich Schliemann. We carry on to the Theater of Epidauros and passing by Corinth with its important site brought to day-light in the end of the 19the century, we continue back to Athens. Our farewell dinner we can enjoy in the old athenian town of Plaka.

8th day: Departures

Depending on the departure times: visit of the Acropolis and the new archeological museum. Transfer to the airport.


TRIP DETAILS


Insurance: Participants should be covered by their own personal travel-health insurance and prior to the trip. The personal insurance must at least cover medical expenses as well as air rescue and the cost of repatriation.

Period: From April to October 2017.

Accommodation: Hotels in the cities, village pensions throughout the trip (all with private facilities).
The trip prices are based on double occupancy.

Food: Every morning we have breakfast in the hotels, picnic lunch en route and a dinner at local tavern. (Vegetarians are welcome on the trips)

Group Size: 4-16 participants.

Difficulty Level: (2) The hikes offer a moderate trek with a maximum of 5-6 hours walk on rocky terrain, 7 hours for Taïgetos, "Prophitis Ilias". Participants should be in good physical condition with a little of experience.
